Overview

A New Scaler client had utilised System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) for a considerable amount of time to manage their fleet of Windows laptops and Chromebooks for their employees. However, this proved unreliable in delivering what was necessary to enable the secure and productive usage of devices across their organisation.

With New Scaler’s aid, our client successfully migrated to Intune, enabling their IT department to deploy devices quickly and securely.

Challenge

  • SCCM needed users to be on-premises in order to receive Windows updates, which was inconvenient for remote workers.

  • Manually imaging devices with SCCM required a considerable amount of time from the IT team.

  • SCCM was unable to track and monitor the institution’s devices adequately.

Solution

New Scaler was able to use Intune to:

  • Build an Intune environment that meets the needs of our client’s personnel.
  • Enable Zero-Touch provisioning to eliminate the requirement for imaging new Windows devices.
  • Provide as-built documentation and knowledge transfer to their IT team.

Results

  • Our client can apply over-the-air updates to remote devices; over 4000 of their devices currently receive these upgrades.

  • They can enjoy zero-touch device provisioning for all their Windows devices.

  • The visibility of their inventory’s status and location has been enabled.

  • Cost-effective solution since we repurposed the Microsoft 365 licence of our client.

  • Configuring Windows devices became easier since new PCs were automatically enrolled by New Scaler in Intune.
