Overview

A client with outdated IT systems that were costly and unproductive was transformed through New Scaler’s cloud solutions allowing them to work remotely and securely in a cost-effective, productive way.

Challenge

  • Company’s engineers were centrally located in one building, but they coordinated with international suppliers, the client found they had issues with this because:

                    – They had to find out what kind of systems and platforms each supplier was using to coordinate business processes with them which was time consuming.

                    – There was an inability to see which co-workers were online and the lack of a single, global email address book made communication cumbersome.

                    – Lots of network issues, bandwidth issues, and user errors. This combined with the time difference meant that communication could be slow.

  • Needed to provide international suppliers with more secure, reliable, controlled access to the company’s ERP system.
  • Outdated systems were costly and reduced productivity.

Solution

  • Initiated stress test for client’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in the Azure cloud platform.
  • Migrated a critical sales application to Azure and updated client’s employees’ computers to Windows 10 providing business continuity – which also enabled remote work.
  • Deployed Azure Virtual Desktop in two working days to streamline supply chain access, giving a more secure, modern solution.
  • Set up profile and performance configurations for client’s suppliers and engineers to match their IT needs and permissions, locking down access to a small portion of the system for suppliers.
  • Boost security by setting up multifactor authentication in Azure Virtual Desktop with Azure Active Directory (AD), allowing the client to use the service for single sign-on access to Microsoft 365 and third-party apps.
  • Automated investigation and response in Microsoft Defender for Office 365 prevents data loss and allows client to prioritize threats within Microsoft Exchange Online.
  • Deploy BitLocker for data encryption and Microsoft Intune for asset management.
  • Create custom code for Microsoft Power BI and Power Automate, to revamp and streamline clients’ processes.
  • Using Teams Phone capabilities, transform clients on-premises voice unified communications and call centre to managed services technologies.

Results

  • New Scaler were able to offer deep expertise in every aspect of cloud and IT strategy including providing licensing, managed services, technology assessments, cloud migrations, and more.
  • Client’s partners were able to use Azure Virtual Desktop with minimal support or training and it allowed the client to provide targeted access to selected areas of their ERP system giving them the control they needed.
  • Employees enjoy the convenience of Azure AD as they can easily see org charts and report relationships. Also, it is easier for new employees to get situated, navigate the organization, and be productive in their jobs earlier.
  • Client is able to save money on licensing since Azure Virtual Desktop has been deployed.
  • Enhanced productivity due to Teams.
